Grants


This section will give general information regarding grants scheme and downloadable information.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force on 25 May 2018, and was designed to modernise laws that protect the personal information of individuals.

CITB NI collect and use data for legislative purposes only and do not share it with others except in pursuance with those obligations or tasks directly relating to those purposes.  CITB NI is GDPR compliant.

Please note that once a grant claim has been submitted online this cannot be edited or you cannot upload attachments.  Please email any supporting grants information to grants@citbni.org.uk

CITB NI offers direct grants to our registered employers for support in a wide range of training and qualifications for their employees working in Northern Ireland. Whether you’re training new recruits, developing established staff or looking for improvements in other areas of your business, we can offer advice on training and grants to meet your needs. Our Grant scheme is spilt into 3 Tiers to allow CITB NI to provide flexible and responsive support to the industry. 


Our Tier 1 Grants Scheme offers our registered employers grants to support training and qualifications, from apprentices through to the existing workforce including management and administration. The grant support also covers short duration training courses including first aid, business courses and site safety courses.  Why not check out our  Training Directory  to help you identify courses and training providers.

2018/2019 Grants Scheme (claim for training 1 September 2018 to 31 August 2019)

CITB NI will not be printing the 2018/19 Grants Scheme, Application form or Terms and Conditions of Grant. This information will be available electronically on our web site www.citbni.org.uk or by contacting a member of our team on 028 9082 5466 or email grants@citbni.org.uk
 

  • Grant claims can only be submitted for employees who work in Northern Ireland and declared on the employers Annual Return Form.
  • Deadline for all Levy Return Forms including Options and New Registrations must be adhered to. Grants cannot be paid if you miss any deadline.
  • Levy payers can claim grant up to 100% of total levy paid.
  • Non levy payers can claim grant up to £480 in the training year.
  • No limits on apprenticeship grants.
  • All grant claims must be received by CITB NI within three months of commencement of training or upon registration onto course or apprenticeship scheme, otherwise grant will be declined.
  • Employers are encouraged to make grant claims on line at www.citbni.org.uk

Please note the essential Terms and Conditions information for the 2019/20 Training Year;

1. Grant claims can only be submitted for employees who work in Northern Ireland and declared on the employers Annual Return Form.
2. Deadline for all Levy Return Forms including Options and New Registrations must be adhered to otherwise Grants will be restricted to apprentice grant only.
3.  Levy payers can claim grant up to double the total of levy paid.
4. Non levy payers can claim grant up to £500 in the training year.
5. The limit referred to at points 3 and 4 only applies to short duration training courses lasting up to ten days.
6.  All grant claims must be received by CITB NI within three months of commencement of training or upon registration onto course or apprenticeship scheme, otherwise grant will be declined.
7.  Employers are encouraged to make grant claims on line at www.citbni.org.uk

Training in Partnership Grants


The Training in Partnership Grants offer funding directly to industry federations and representative bodies or provide training as identified and procured by CITB NI on behalf of the construction industry.

Training in Partnership Grants are designed to directly fund training delivered to employers at little or no cost to encourage strategically important training or to improve performance of the industry in relation to future needs.
